After graduating from college in New York State I immediately received a job offer for special education just outside of Charleston SC. I taught in the Charleston area for 6 years. Wanting to start a new challenge with my husband we decided to join the TMCS team. I am excited and honored to be part of a community of students and teachers who share a common vision.

I am so blessed to have the opportunity to teach at TMCS which is a dream environment for kids and teachers. The kids get to experience meaningful learning in expeditions and experience a lot of outdoor time to balance their day with work and play. I absolutely love this school and its initiatives with mindfulness and character building in CREW. I am so excited to be here and facilitate learning for this awesome group of second graders!
What I love about The Mountain Community School is the small class size, close community, and experienced educators. This combination creates a strong school. Our school celebrates students’ unique minds and personalities. Above all, the most important reason I teach at The Mountain Community School is that we care for and love our students.
We promise you every day your child will learn something.
Some days they'll bring it home in their hands.
Some days they'll bring it home in their heads.
Some days they'll bring it home in their hearts.
When I first went back to school for my teaching license I knew I wanted to teach at a small school with a strong sense of community. It took a while, but my path finally led me to The Mountain Community School. TMCS is a small school that has a very strong sense of community, and teaching here is my dream job!
My family and I moved from California, where I was a Special Education teacher, to North Carolina a number of years ago. Soon after arriving, I began looking for a school that not only would I like to work at, but a place where I would want my own children to become a part of. The prospect of a new Charter School, The Mountain Community School, quickly caught my attention. I was the first to be hired at TMCS, and my daughter began school as a kindergarten student that same year.
