April 13th Expedition Night

Dear TMCS Community:

I’m sure you have heard by now that we are hosting an Expedition Night Wednesday, April 13th from 4:00pm – 6:00pm.  This is a wonderful opportunity for our community to see first-hand how Learning Through Expeditions, our curricular model, encourages critical thinking in all disciplines.  Our students will be showcasing their work in each classroom, presenting what they have learned, as well as the process of their learning.

Expedition Night is also open to the general public including prospective families seeking the “right” program for their child.  Please feel free to invite friends and family that may have an interest in our school to tag along and see what makes The Mountain Community School a special place.

I look forward to seeing you all next Wednesday.  Thanks “as always” for your support!

2015-2016 TMCS Community Survey

Family engagement is strong at The Mountain Community School but we’d like to make it even better and make sure our program meets the needs of families, students, and teachers. You can help us form a better partnership between school and home by answering the questions on the 2015-2016 Community Survey. The data we collect helps us determine if we are effectively meeting the overall academic and emotional needs of the children we serve.  So please take the time to complete the survey by April 4th.

Welcome TMCS Families

Welcome to the new TMCS website and my first ever blog post! This website has been a long time in the making. One would think it would be a simple task to launch a new site, however, I can honestly say it has been a herculean effort! As a staff we have spent countless hours discussing the kind of website we want to not only represent our school, but serve as a portal for communication to support our community. A website that shares all the good news and happenings at TMCS as well as provides insight to the prospective parent searching for the “right fit” for their child and family.

After many discussions, drafting documents, gathering pictures, corrections and more corrections, our new website is unveiled. In time we will build on the foundation that you see today, but right now it serves as a great representation of the special school and community we all serve.

Please take sometime to browse the site. Check in on the teachers’ pages and their blogs, where they will share their class events and celebrations. Check out the curriculum tab to see our current philosophies and curricular direction as we work hard preparing our students for the challenges of being a 21st century learner. You can also take a peek at our Learning Through Expedition model and CREW, our character education program.

My hope is that this new website will help us better communicate our mission and goals to our community as well as showcase all the good work taking place at TMCS. Please let us know your thoughts and suggestions so we can better serve you in the future.

In Gratitude,
Denise Pesce
